An evening of fun at the Chiltern Firehouse in Marleybone – London – on a buying trip recently. Nuno Mendes’ original dishes, stylishly served in a Neo-Gothic ex-firehouse turned designer hotel! I always love an open kitchen to watch the “goings–on”. I think the best seats would be at the counter to watch these kitchen gods work their magic.
The 1889 Grade II-listed Victorian-gothic fire brigade building is something to behold, along with the beautiful garden for the entrance, with a bar full of oysters to get you started! The best dish was without doubt the steak tartare – even for people that don’t eat steak tartare. What a great evening!
