Vintage fashion can be tricky sometimes – I often encounter when getting dressed into vintage pieces from my rail, that I look like a granny and very “unsexy”! But after a few minutes I quickly learn that the art of vintage dressing is to be confident and to mix it all up! There are NO rules! Polka dots can be worn with animal print and stripes can be be mixed up with lace! I also recommend that you don’t wear vintage from head to toe – mix it up with cool jeans or a hip fitted blazer! And before I forget the most important rule is not all vintage is cool. Just because it’s called vintage and your granny wore it in the 60’s does not automatically equal good fashion morals! The vintage item should shout out that it’s a statement piece and cannot be found anywear – ‘cos it is that special!
It is a ‘special’ piece of clothing if, for some odd fashion reason, no-one has ever been able to throw it away – hence the word special! I found out that any clothes before the 80’s era is considered vintage – any clothes from the 80’s and 90’s are retro!
Interesting!
