I am sure you have heard the rumours flying around about French Vogue Editor Carine Roitfeld resigning on the last working Friday of the year – apparently moving onto personal projects. SPICEY!!
Roitfeld has been in bad press a number of times, the biggest being when she apparently borrowed a Balenciaga preview piece and sent it on to Max Mara to copy. Very poor taste, Carine . The whole of the French Vogue team was banned from the Balenciaga show at Paris Fashion week!
The French Vogue readership is one-tenth that of Vogue America. It was rumoured when the movie The Devil Wears Prada came out, that the movie was based on some truth and that Carine would be the natural successor of Anna Wintour -British-born editor-in-chief of American Vogue (a position she has held since 1988).
Some have speculated that she will either become a freelance stylist where she could earn double of what she is earning now, or join her long time friend Tom Ford on his new ladies range venture!
No matter what happens, there is no doubt that she has changed the face of fashion to be sexier, darker and wild – I love her style and will carry on watching her for inspiration!
