Dsquared2 Spring/Summer 2011 women’s collection

I am loving the Spring/Summer 2011 collection from Dsquared2. I can see myself in those denim shorts, cardi and man shoes with white socks! There ranges are so much more practical and easier than some of the looks we try draw inspiration from. It’s not easy to look Chanel everyday! But you could look Dsquared2 everyday!

Dsquared2 is a premium Italian fashion label that was first launched in 1994 by twin brothers Dead and Dan Catenacci. Despite the brand being Italian the brothers were actually born in Toronto, Canada. They were both interested in fashion from an early age, and moved to New York City to study fashion at the Parsons School of Design before returning to Toronto to work for Ports International. Coming originally from Italian heritage they decided to move to Italy to pursue their dream of becoming World famous clothing designers.

In 1991 they relocated to Milan, and began to work as designer for legendary fashion house Gianni Versace before leaving to work for premium denim label Diesel. Rene Russo the owner of Diesel was so impressed that he decided to back the twins venture of launching their own label and in 1994 the brand DSquared2 was formed.

For the first nine years of the brands existence they concentrated purely on menswear before branching out into creating ladies wear collections in 2003 to critical acclaim and in 2004 launching a mens underwear range.

In 2007 they launched their first standalone fashion store in Milan and have since gone on to open several more own branded boutiques around the world including Kiev in the Ukraine, Istanbul in Turkey and the Chinese province of Hong Kong.
